On 12 April 2023, Warner Bros announced the reboot of the HARRY POTTER saga, but this time on the small screen. HBO will be in charge of the project with a talented creative team consisting of Francesca Gardiner, Mark Mylod and David Heyman.

For now, the series is scheduled to launch in early 2027, with a marketing campaign expected to begin in 2026.

We also know of several other roles, but these have not yet been officially announced. However, we already know that Peeves will officially be part of the cast!

Official Photos

Along with the casting announcements, HBO also revealed some official photos to introduce its characters: Harry Potter, Rubeus Hagrid, and the Weasleys.

Filming & Locations

Filming began on 14 July 2025, at the same time as the release of the first official photo of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter.

The first photos from the shoot began to emerge the very next day, with scenes of the Dursleys and Harry at London Zoo being filmed. This was our first glimpse of Vernon, Petunia and Dudley Dursley, as well as Piers Polkiss, who never appeared in the films.

The team also filmed scenes for the Leaky Cauldron at The Blue Maid in Borough High Street. It was also on the same street that we got our first glimpse of Hagrid with Harry on video.

Other locations:

Regarding Hogwarts and Diagon Alley, we have some concept art, but there is no indication that these designs have been selected for the series (I can only confirm that the source is legitimate).

However, we did get photos of the Diagon Alley set with the Quidditch, Primpernelle’s and Glissando’s shops. In March 2026, we also got our first look at Gringotts thanks to Apple Maps.

New Score

To celebrate the launch of HBO Max in Germany on 14 January 2026, the official Harry Potter account announced that Hans Zimmer will compose the original music for the HBO series with Bleeding Fingers Music.

“We are humbled to join such a remarkable team on a project of this magnitude. The responsibility is something that we do not take lightly.

Magic is all around us, often just beyond reach, but as in the world of Harry Potter, you simply must look for it.

With this score we hope to bring audiences that little bit closer to it whilst honoring what has come before.”

Additional Scenes

With nearly five hours of additional content, the HARRY POTTER TV series has a significant advantage in adding scenes that were not included in the films. What is even more exciting is the extension beyond the book’s content, based on several photos/videos or revealed by actors from the series.
