The wait is almost over for German-speaking fans of the Wizarding World. With the full-cast audio edition of Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen set to launch on 10th November 2026, the first members of its cast have now been revealed exclusively, offering the clearest look yet at who will be bringing Hogwarts to life in this new German-language production.
The project was first announced in May, when plans for Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions in German were confirmed alongside co-producer Audible. Following the success of the English-language full-cast editions, the German productions will feature more than 150 voice actors across all seven books, with new installments arriving on a monthly cadence after the first release.
A cast spanning generations
Guiding listeners through the series will be narrator Abak Safaei-Rad. The principal adult cast brings together some of German cinema and television’s most recognisable names, alongside performers closely associated with the franchise’s audio legacy.
Principal Cast
- Abak Safaei-Rad as Narrator
- Daniel Brühl as Lord Voldemort
- Nina Hoss as Professor McGonagall
- Armin Rohde as Rubeus Hagrid
- Falilou Seck as Albus Dumbledore
- Robert Stadlober as Professor Snape
- Matthias Matschke as Professor Quirrell
- Felix von Manteuffel as Garrick Ollivander
The casting of Felix von Manteuffel as Ollivander carries particular significance for longtime fans: he is one of the original single-voice narrators behind the beloved German Harry Potter audiobooks, making his involvement here a direct link between the franchise’s audio past and its newest chapter.
Two Golden Trios
As with the English-language full-cast editions, the central trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron will be voiced by two separate sets of actors across the seven books, reflecting the characters’ growth from childhood to young adulthood. For the first three instalments, the roles will be filled as follows.
The Golden Trio: books 1–3
- Niklas Ulonska as Harry Potter
- Ayla Uluçam as Hermione Granger
- Anton Schnermann as Ron Weasley
They will be joined by a number of young actors taking on other key early-series roles, including Moritz Frickel as a young Draco Malfoy, Eliot Neudeck as a young Neville Longbottom, and Ella Reithmeier as a young Ginny Weasley.
An immersive production
More than 2,000 hours of recording have gone into the production so far, paired with Dolby Atmos sound design, an original score, and real-world sound capture.
According to the announcement, the audiobooks are designed to be a richly immersive listening experience, combining a powerhouse cast of established actors and new talent with high-quality sound design. The use of Dolby Atmos, original music, and location-based sound recording points to a production aiming for cinematic scale within the audio format.
Worth noting: these new full-cast productions will not replace the existing German single-voice editions narrated by Rufus Beck and Felix von Manteuffel, which remain available and continue to be popular with fans.
Release schedule and pre-orders
The first audiobook, Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen, will be released on 10th November 2026, with the remaining six books in the series following on a monthly schedule. Production on the unabridged editions is described as well under way, with the full cast already deep into recording.
