Harry Potter Takes Over the Grand Palais Ice Rink in Paris This Winter

The magic of HBO’s new Harry Potter series is heading to Paris. From December 12 to January 6, the Grand Palais ice rink, billed as the largest indoor ice rink in the world, will be decked out in the colours of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

After the Hogwarts house lights unveiled for London’s Oxford Street, the French capital is getting its own festive celebration of the HBO Original series, just weeks before it premieres on HBO Max on Christmas Day.

Skating Into the Wizarding World

The Grand Palais de Glace will host a series of activities inspired by the world of the show. Visitors will find them throughout the Nave, the Grand Palais’s vast central hall, and all around the ice.

The organisers have not yet shared the full programme of Harry Potter activities. I’ll update this article as soon as more details are revealed.

A 16-Metre Moon Above the Ice

This year’s edition is built around a monumental centrepiece: a moon measuring 16 metres in diameter, suspended above the rink. With 2,700 m² of ice, the event promises an immersive experience beneath the Grand Palais’s iconic glass roof, where the scale of the Nave and the lighting design combine to create a one-of-a-kind winter setting.
