They’ve already topped the charts and sold over a million copies in a month, and now the Harry Potter Full-Cast Audio Editions are about to reach even more listeners. The immersive audiobooks, co-produced with Audible, are expanding to libraries worldwide, starting with the first three books on December 1, 2026.
Library release schedule
The audiobooks will roll out in three waves through participating public libraries:
| Date | Audiobooks |
|---|---|
| December 1, 2026 | Books 1 to 3 |
| January 5, 2027 | Books 4 and 5 |
| February 2, 2027 | Books 6 and 7 |
Where to borrow them
Pottermore Publishing is partnering with six library platforms and suppliers to make the audiobooks available: Bolinda, Hoopla Digital, INaudio, OverDrive, Playaway Products and WeDoBooks. Availability will depend on each library’s participation, so check with your local branch or the platform it uses.
A record-breaking audiobook production
The Full-Cast Editions, co-produced with Audible, have been a hit since launch. All seven books currently hold the top seven spots on the New York Times Children’s Audio Best Seller list, and the series sold over one million units in its first 30 days.
The production is just as impressive behind the scenes. More than 200 actors voice over 500 characters across more than 2,000 hours of recording, making it the most extensive audiobook production ever assembled. The cast includes Matthew Macfadyen, James McAvoy, Cush Jumbo, Michelle Gomez and Keira Knightley, and the full list is available on the official Harry Potter website.
Why libraries?
Jennie McCann, Managing Director of Pottermore Publishing, said libraries play a vital role in connecting people with stories that spark a lifelong love of reading. The aim, she explained, is to help more listeners discover or rediscover Hogwarts through this immersive format, and to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
For fans who haven’t tried the Full-Cast Editions yet, a library loan is an easy and free way to start. Since the first three books land in December, expect some waiting lists at launch, while books 4 to 7 follow in January and February 2027.
