Pottermore Publishing is launching Harry Potter Audioscapes, a brand-new ambient listening series built to help fans unwind. The first title, Moments at Hogwarts: The Gryffindor Common Room, arrives on 17 November 2026, just in time for the busy festive season.
What are Harry Potter Audioscapes?
Rather than a traditional audiobook, Audioscapes are designed as a calming, immersive experience. Each title blends narration taken from the Harry Potter books with soothing sound design and an original musical score, transporting listeners to a single iconic location in the wizarding world.
The aim is simple: relaxation. Think less page-turning adventure, more evening by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate.
First stop: the Gryffindor Common Room
The series opens behind the Fat Lady’s portrait, in the cosy tower room where Harry, Ron and Hermione so often retreated to talk, think or simply catch their breath.
The listening experience follows the rhythm of a full Hogwarts school year, moving gently from autumn through to summer. Carefully chosen extracts from the original novels guide the journey, giving fans the feeling of settling into a new term from their own armchair.
How the Audioscapes were made
Three sound layers combine to recreate the atmosphere of the castle:
- ASMR narration – newly recorded readings using ASMR techniques, delivered with warmth and attention to detail.
- An original score – composed for a live ensemble, with frequencies specifically designed to promote calm.
- Foley sound effects – from rumbling thunder in the distance to the crackle of the common room fire.
The series was mixed in Dolby Atmos. According to sound designer Andreina Gomez Casanova, the goal was to ease listeners into a relaxed state and offer a genuine refuge – somewhere sound helps you “unwind, relax, and stay present.”
Jennie McCann, Managing Director of Pottermore Publishing, explained that the project draws on the audio experience the publisher gained with its Full-Cast Editions of the books. The difference here is the intention: where those editions favour lively, dynamic storytelling, the Audioscapes narration has been deliberately slowed down and softened to put relaxation first.

Two more Audioscapes on the way
The Gryffindor Common Room is only the beginning. Two further titles are planned, focusing on Hogwarts Classes and the Hogwarts Grounds. Their release dates will be announced in 2027.
