The Boy Who Lived is back! HBO has unveiled the first official poster for its upcoming Harry Potter television series, offering fans a new look at Dominic McLaughlin as the young wizard and, for the first time, a glimpse of the series’ Hogwarts castle reflected in his glasses. The highly anticipated adaptation is set to premiere on December 25, 2026, on HBO Max.
The countdown to Hogwarts just got a little more exciting! HBO has revealed its first official poster for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
The artwork features a close-up of Harry Potter, played by Dominic McLaughlin, with the iconic Hogwarts castle reflected in his round glasses. Accompanying the image is the powerful tagline “The Boy Who Lived”, a familiar phrase that captures the mystery surrounding Harry’s survival as a baby.

A First Look at Hogwarts Castle in the New Series
Perhaps the most exciting detail in the new Harry Potter poster is the reflection of Hogwarts in Harry’s glasses.
While the first teaser offered glimpses of the series’ magical settings and interiors, this artwork brings the iconic castle into focus in a striking new way. Hogwarts has always been at the heart of the franchise, representing a place where Harry can finally belong and discover who he really is.
The close-up also keeps the focus firmly on Harry himself. Rather than revealing an entire scene or introducing multiple characters, the poster uses a simple visual detail to connect the young wizard with the magical world waiting for him.
“The Boy Who Lived”: A Familiar Story Begins Again
The poster’s tagline refers to Harry’s extraordinary survival of Lord Voldemort’s killing curse when he was just a baby.
After Voldemort murdered Harry’s parents, Lily and James Potter, the curse rebounded when he attempted to kill their son. Harry survived, bearing only a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead, while Voldemort lost his physical form. This event made Harry famous throughout the wizarding world long before he understood why.
The phrase also connects the new series to the opening chapter of J.K. Rowling‘s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, titled “The Boy Who Lived”.
With its first season adapting the novel, the HBO series will revisit the beginning of Harry’s journey, from his difficult childhood with the Dursleys to his first steps into the wizarding world.
When Does the HBO Harry Potter Series Premiere?
The first season, officially titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will premiere on December 25, 2026, on HBO, with streaming available on HBO Max in supported markets.
Dominic McLaughlin stars as Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The wider cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
With its new cast, fresh visual interpretation and expanded television format, the series aims to bring the original books to life for a new generation while giving longtime fans another opportunity to return to the Wizarding World.
And with the first official poster now revealed, the magic is getting closer.
