Whilst we were waiting for the teaser for the Harry Potter TV series, we managed to get some new information about season 1. Katherine Parkinson (Molly Weasley) gave an interview to The Independent, whilst Paapa Essiedu (Severus Snape) spoke to Esquire.

The Burrow confirmed for the first season

Whilst we only encounter The Burrow in the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, it would appear that the Weasleys’ home features in the first season of the HBO series.

Indeed, in an interview with The Independent, Katherine Parkinson, who plays Molly Weasley, revealed that the most ‘pinch me moment’ for her was “walking into my character’s home for the first time“.

The series seems to be diverging from the books, but this comes as no surprise when we remember that we’re set to see Hermione Granger receive her Hogwarts letter. All of this seems to confirm that we’ll see several of the children receive their letters, including Ron Weasley, who will be at the Burrow.

Now, will we only see his bedroom, or more? The mystery remains, but it clearly looks like there’s a bit more to it than just a room…

Severus Snape on a broom during a Quidditch match

Remember, in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Snape is the referee for a Quidditch match. During the match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, the Potions teacher volunteers to stand in for another teacher, which worries Harry Potter.

In an interview with Esquire, Paapa Essiedu confirmed that there will indeed be an episode centred on the magical sport. But the most surprising thing is that he’s set to ride a broom!

There’s an episode with a lot of Quidditch, and my characters has to fly a broom. They built a whole stadium for that, and I saw one of the scenes where Harry has to fly and they’ve got wires. Then I had to do mine, and my broom was on the end of this big mechanical arm.

I was doing it, and it’s not particularly comfortable, but whatever. Then I fell off, and I was hanging off my broom.

When you think about it, it makes perfect sense for a Quidditch referee to ride a broom! It was actually in the book, even though the film didn’t show it.
