On the occasion of World Book Day, HBO Max just announced 21 new Hogwarts students joining the cast of the HARRY POTTER TV series! Divided between the four iconic houses of the school of witchcraft and wizardry: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. These new faces will populate the corridors of Hogwarts and bring to life a whole generation of students who will evolve alongside the main characters.

Gryffindor students

• Eire Farrell is Katie Bell
• Asha Soetan is Angelina Johnson
• Orson Matthews is Oliver Wood
• Serrana Su-Ling Bliss is Alicia Spinnet
• Ethan Smith is Lee Jordan

Among the newly announced students joining Gryffindor, several familiar names from the original story will make their way to the Quidditch pitch and the Gryffindor common room. Katie Bell, played by Eire Farrell, is one of the Gryffindor Chasers and first appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, where she is already part of the house Quidditch team alongside Oliver Wood. Angelina Johnson, portrayed by Asha Soetan, is another talented Chaser introduced in the same book; she later becomes Quidditch captain in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The Gryffindor team will also feature Oliver Wood, played by Orson Matthews, the passionate and determined team captain and Keeper who recruits Harry as Seeker during his first year. Joining them are Alicia Spinnet (Serrana Su-Ling Bliss), another Chaser who appears early in the series as part of the team’s core lineup, and Lee Jordan (Ethan Smith), a fellow Gryffindor best known as the enthusiastic Quidditch commentator whose biased and humorous play-by-play becomes a recurring highlight throughout the early books.

Hufflepuff students

• India Moon is Hannah Abbott
• Jazmyn Lewin is Susan Bones
• Cian Eagle-Service is Ernie Macmillan
• James Trevelyan Buckle is Justin Finch-Fletchley

The new casting also brings several Hufflepuff students to life. Hannah Abbott, played by India Moon, is introduced during the Sorting Ceremony in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Another Hufflepuff student from Harry’s year is Susan Bones, portrayed by Jazmyn Lewin. Also introduced in the first book, she later becomes a member of Dumbledore’s Army in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Ernie Macmillan, played by Cian Eagle-Service, gains a more significant role in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Proud of his wizarding lineage, he initially believes the rumors that Harry might be the Heir of Slytherin. Finally, Justin Finch-Fletchley, portrayed by James Trevelyan Buckle, is a Muggle-born Hufflepuff introduced in the same book. During the events surrounding the reopening of the Chamber of Secrets, he becomes one of the students petrified by the Basilisk.

Ravenclaw students

• Scarlett Archer is Penelope Clearwater
• Anjula Murali is Padma Patil

Terry Boot, played by Aaron Zhao, is first introduced in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. A member of Ravenclaw in Harry’s year, he later joins Dumbledore’s Army in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Lisa Turpin, portrayed by Eve Walls, is another Ravenclaw in Harry’s first year. While she remains mostly a background character in the books, she is part of the group of students who begin their Hogwarts journey alongside Harry.

Among the older students is Penelope Clearwater, played by Scarlett Archer. A Ravenclaw prefect introduced in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, she is notably petrified during the attacks linked to the Chamber of Secrets, becoming one of the victims discovered at Hogwarts that year. She also falls in love with Percy Weasley later on.

Finally, Padma Patil, portrayed by Anjula Murali, is the twin sister of Parvati Patil and is back in Ravenclaw as in the books, whereas the films had placed her in Gryffindor. She appears from the early books and is notably invited by Harry to the Yule Ball in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Slytherin students

• Oliver Croft is Marcus Flint
• Dylan Heath is Adrian Pucey
• Henry Medhurst is Peregrine Derrick
• Cornelius Brandreth is Terence Higgs

• D’Angelou Osei-Kissiedu is Graham Montague

Several Slytherin students have also been cast, many of whom are closely tied to the house’s Quidditch team. Miles Bletchley (Eddison Burch), Lucian Bole (James Dowell), Marcus Flint (Oliver Croft), Adrian Pucey (Dylan Heath), Peregrine Derrick (Henry Medhurst) and Terence Higgs (Cornelius Brandreth) are all members of the Slytherin Quidditch team introduced from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Led by captain Marcus Flint, the team frequently clashes with Gryffindor on the pitch throughout Harry’s early years at Hogwarts.

Also joining Slytherin are Pansy Parkinson, played by Laila Barwick, a student in Harry’s year known for being part of Draco Malfoy’s circle, and Graham Montague, portrayed by D’Angelou Osei-Kissiedu, an older Slytherin who later becomes a member of the Inquisitorial Squad in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
