Speculation surrounding the casting of Lord Voldemort in the highly anticipated television adaptation of HARRY POTTER has, once again, been addressed and the answer may disappoint some fans.
For months, rumors had suggested that Cillian Murphy, best known for his work in Peaky Blinders, was being considered to portray the Dark Lord in the new series. The buzz gained significant traction online, with many viewers praising the idea as inspired casting. And I must say, we would be great in this role!
However, in a recent interview with The Times, the Irish actor firmly denied the claims. When asked directly about the possibility of stepping into Voldemort’s robes, Murphy responded unequivocally: “I’m categorically not. Can you make that the headline?” With that statement, the long-running speculation appears to have been put to rest.
The casting rumors originally intensified after Ralph Fiennes, who famously portrayed Voldemort in the HARRY POTTER films, mentioned Murphy’s name in a TikTok video. Reflecting on the possibility of a successor, Fiennes remarked that he had heard his “shoes are already filled” and described Murphy as “a very good choice.” The comment quickly sparked widespread fan discussions across social media platforms.
While the identity of the actor who will embody Voldemort in the new adaptation remains under wraps, much of the principal cast has already been confirmed.
Stay tuned for more updates as casting announcements continue to unfold and let’s hope we find out who our next Lord Voldemort will be very soon!
